Street sweeping to resume in Athabasca neighbourhoods this week

Residents are advised to remove vehicles, other objects during routes

ATHABASCA — Residential street sweeping routes will resume this week after late spring snow pushed back plans to begin roadway cleaning April 16 to 19.

The Town of Athabasca posted its new route schedule the morning of Tuesday, April 23, to its social media and advisory channels.

Residents along Cornwall route two — north of Whispering Hills Primary School — can expect to see the sweepers Wednesday, April 24, and work will begin on the East Hill Thursday, April 25. Woodheights is expected to be hit Friday, April 26, as are the streets surrounding the Brick School.

Route schedules are subject to further change, weather dependent; changes and updates to the schedule will be posted on the town’s channels.

Sweepers will be operating from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and residents are asked to keep watch for signs in their neighbourhoods, and clear the streets of any obstacles, such as garbage bins, parked vehicles, and driveway ramps.
