Instead of spending New Years Eve alone, in whole or in part, celebrate it on Dec. 31 with the staff of the Town of Barrhead Parks &Recreation.
Brandy Siegert, from the Parks &Recreation department, says members of the community and surrounding areas are invited to partake in a free public skate.
“Everyone is invited,” she said, adding there will be noisemakers and hats and other festive New Years giveaways.
“There will be treats for those interested.”
The idea behind the event, Siegert said, is for people of the community to get to know the staff who maintain the parks, agrena and other recreational facilities scattered throughout the town.
“Skating is between 7 and 9 p.m. and after that, we will be having a great fireworks display, which will be launched from one of the adjoining baseball diamonds and is provided by the Barrhead Fire Department.”
