A missed curfew in Barrhead resulted in the arrest of a local man and the seizure of drugs and a firearm.
Barrhead RCMP arrested Randy Blake Wiebe, 59, of Barrhead on Jan. 12 after Wiebe allegedly breached curfew conditions the night before. In addition to the arrest, a search warrant obtained by officers for the residence resulted in the seizure of quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, cash and a stolen semi-automatic shotgun.
“It is a significant example of the crime reduction work we do in Barrhead every day, identifying and targeting repeat offenders,” Barrhead RCMP detachment commander, Sgt. Bob Dodds said.
Wiebe has been formally charged with the unsafe storage of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon obtained by crime, possession for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of possession of a controlled substance and eight counts of failure to comply.
His next appearance is set for Tuesday, Jan. 23 in Barrhead Provincial Court.
