Apollos Jewellers in Barrhead suffered extensive damage after a truck, stolen from Stephani Motors, was driven through the front store window on the night of July 21st. Police later recovered both the stolen truck and the stolen jewellery.

Stolen truck used to rob jewellery store
Barrhead RCMP were called to Apollos Jewellers of Barrhead in the early morning on Tuesday, July 22, at approximately 12:50 a.m. where they discovered a pick-up truck had been driven through the front window and into the store.

Hennessey and Cheeseman ordered to enter pleas on September 12
Attorneys for Shawn Hennessey and Dennis Cheeseman appeared at the Queen’s Court Bench in Edmonton on Monday to request additional time to review the facts of the case, before the two men officially enter their pleas.

A Calgary company, TransCanada, has won the endorsement of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to construct a new pipeline that will carry natural gas from Prudhoe Bay in northern Alaska to Alberta and the rest of the United States.

The Barrhead Twilighters held their annual senior slow pitch tournament on July 12th and 13th at the Barrhead baseball grounds.

Raptors new roster not that much better
Last year’s NBA season had it all. The Celtics went from worst to first in the Eastern Conference. San Antonio made it to the playoffs as usual but couldn’t survive against the Kobe Bryant-led Lakers. Shaq fizzled out in the Arizona desert and LeBron didn’t have enough to get Cleveland back to the finals.
