Attorneys for Shawn Hennessey and Dennis Cheeseman appeared at the Queens Court Bench in Edmonton on Monday to request additional time to review the facts of the case, before the two men officially enter their pleas.
The judge agreed to grant an extension, setting the next appearance for September 12 in Edmonton. At that time both defendants are expected to enter pleas of not guilty.
Crown Prosecutor Dave LaBronz said since the defendants have not entered their pleas, no trial dates have been set in stone. However, defence attorneys announced they have scheduled dates with the court should the case proceed.
April 5 to June 19, 2009 has been set aside for the trial, but those dates will not be confirmed until September.
"The defendants didnt need to be present today, it was just an application to set it over," said LaBronz.
