Dear Editor,
On behalf of the Jasper Mountain Spirit team in the Athabasca River Canoe Brigade, I would like to give a big thank you to the town of Fort Assiniboine and the County of Barrhead for the amazing welcome all the brigaders received at Fort Assiniboine on June 28. Dinner for a thousand people and the incredible entertainment was overwhelming. Later, the music around the campfire was the perfect way to end the day. Thank you to Ed Graham for the tour of the museum and the team photo in front of the wagon wheel. He is a great ambassador. We travelled home via the Sandhills Wildland area, the Klondike Ferry and town of Neerlandia where we were greeted by many friendly people at the Co-op. The County of Barrhead is a beautiful area and I’ll have to return to discover more of it’s hidden gems.
