Steelers handily dominate Hawks

It was like watching a cat play with mice. That is how the gameplay between the Barrhead Steelers, and the Maskwacis Hawks on Jan. 5 could best be described.

It was like watching a cat play with mice.

That is how the gameplay between the Barrhead Steelers, and the Maskwacis Hawks on Jan. 5 could best be described.

Barrhead rocketed to a headstart early in the first period with a goal from Justin Haltiner, on an assist from Jona Cisse and Owen Weeks.

Haltiner’s goal was followed quickly by one from Grendan Bujold, with an assist from Sheldon Dewsnap and Mitchel Carstairs and another of his [Haltiner’s] own, on an assist from Jeremy Devries and Dewsnap.

Heading into the second period, the score was 3-0 for Barrhead.

Steelers player Landon Petiot took the initiative from his teammates five minutes into the frame and shot one past Maskwacis Hawks’ goalie Ethan Soosay, with an assist from Haltiner and Devries, bringing the tally to 4-0.

Six minutes later, teammate Carstairs added his first goal of the New Year to the growing scoreboard deficit — the score was 5-0.

The Steelers cemented their win three minutes into the third period when Petiot, on an assist from Dewsnap, sent Barrhead’s last goal past the Hawks’ goal-line and the game ended 6-0.
