That is what John Whittaker, Barrhead fire chief said about a two vehicle collision on Highway 18 near Range Road 32.

Witnesses on the scene said an SUV type vehicle was attempting to turn left on to Range Road 32, at about 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 19, when it was rear-ended by a semi-truck hauling a flatbed trailer.

Whittaker said everyone involved in the accident, the three passengers, a couple and their 10-month-old baby in the SUV and the driver and passenger of the semi-truck appear to have been uninjured. The mother and baby were transported to the Barrhead Healthcare Centre as a precaution.

Barrhead RCMP say charges against the driver of the semi-truck, a 29-year-old Sturgeon County man are pending.

As a result of the accident the westbound lane of Highway 18 was temporarily closed for about 20 minutes. Emergency crews also closed the highway completely at about 4:30 p.m. for about 30 minutes as tow trucks were brought in to remove the vehicles.
