In the wild, Orioles and Cardinals might not be natural rivals, but on the baseball field they are.
On Tuesday, July 12, at the Barrhead Sports grounds, the St. Albert Cardinals proved they were at the top of the predatory chain, at least for one game, as they defeated the home team Orioles by a score of 11 - 5.
The Cardinals got off to a quick start, scoring three runs in the top half of the first inning. The Orioles responded in the bottom half of the inning by scoring two of their own after right fielder, Logan Brandon, and pitcher, Lee Worobec, crossed the plate.
Unfortunately for the Orioles, that is as close as they would get. St. Albert added to their total in the second and third innings, scoring a run both innings and holding Barrhead scoreless.
In the fourth inning the teams exchanged two runs apiece and in the fifth inning the Cardinals outscored Barrhead two runs to one.
In the final two innings, St. Albert scored three more runs to finish the night.
So far this season the Cardinals are the only team who has been able to defeat the Orioles. In their first meeting on April 30, the Cardinals won 7-0 and June 12 they won 1-0. In both of those games the Orioles were the visiting team.
