The Barrhead Flyers faced off against the Stony Plain Predators in a Peewee exhibition matchup on Saturday, Oct. 29, and in spite of a last-ditch effort and several time-outs by the Predators, the Flyers won 5-4.

In the first period the Predators came on strong, quickly earning two goals by Aleksandar Mrdjenovich to Barrhead’s one — Carter Greilach scored with an assist by Luke Politeski, for a score of 2-1 for Stony Plain.

The second period, rife with penalties for the Predators ranging from body checking and hooking to unsportsmanlike conduct and roughing, saw the Flyers even the score with a goal from Sam McKale and then surpass their opponents with another by Kayden Rentz.

Heading into the third period, the score now 3-2 for Barrhead, the Predators rallied and managed to get one past Flyers goaltender Brady Callihoo with eight minutes remaining.

The score did not sit tied for very long.

Barrhead answered back quickly with a second goal from Rentz, assisted by Jamie Visser, and another by Visser, assisted by McKale, bringing the tally to 5-3.

In spite of a last ditch effort to save the game for the Predators — involving two time-outs and a decision to pull their goalie Josh Page, which netted one further goal for Stony Plain by Ryan Kwasnycia, the game ended 5-4 for Barrhead.
