For a while it looked like the Sturgeon Mustangs were going to win.
In the first period, the Mustangs managed one goal against Barrhead Blackhawk goaltender Tanner Harrison, and quickly followed it with three more in the second.
In retaliation, Barrhead’s Caden Lane and Renko Wepener scored two of their own, bringing the 3-0 score to a more pliable 3-2.
Following two penalties, one serviced Liam McCauley and another by Mason Zwicker, the Blackhawks rallied and scored two more.
The Mustangs answered with two of their own, bringing the score to a 5-5 tie.
While the Mustangs broke the stalemate first, Barrhead’s Drake Young brought it back for a game-ending tie with a score of 6-6.
