On Saturday, May 7 the Orioles defeated the Spruce Grove Parkland Twins in their first home game of the season, 7 to 3.

Barrhead hit the scoreboard early, scoring two runs in the first inning. The Orioles added to their lead by scoring three more runs in the third inning. In the fourth inning the Orioles scored another run, taking a commanding 6 to 0 lead into the fifth inning.

In the fifth inning Parkland started to chip away at Barrhead’s lead scoring their first run of the game. At the top of sixth inning the Orioles scored one more run making the score 7 to 1.

At the bottom of sixth it looked like the Twins might sneak back into the game. After striking out the first batter, Orioles’ pitcher Tyler Caughlin allowed the next three batters to get to base. With the bases loaded, he walked in the next batter.

Caughlin was then replaced by Rylan Sonnenberg, who allowed more runs before a Twins batter hit a ground ball to third base allowing the Orioles to turn a 5-4-3 double play.

The third baseman fields the ball then throws out the runner at second who then threw out the runner at first base.
