By the time the seven minute mark of the first period ticked by two things were abundantly clear.
The Barrhead Midget Steelers were going to win Friday, Oct. 30’s home game against Camrose in convincing fashion and Town of Barrhead Parks and Recreation staff may have a problem with one of the plexiglass panes.
At just about the eight minute mark of the first period on ice officials noticed one of the plexiglass panes had been dislodged causing a notable delay in the game. At the time of the incident the Steelers were up by two goals and were outshooting their opponents 10 to nothing. The lone Camrose goal coming on their first shot on net at about the 10 minute mark.
When the game resumed the Steelers continued their dominance scoring two more goals ending the first frame, leading four to one.
In the second period, the Camrose had a much better period, scoring two goals on 13 shots and at times carried the play. However, for the most part the Steelers carried the play and were especially strong at the halfway mark of the period killing a two-minute hooking penalty. Despite being shorthanded the Steelers spent most of the penalty in the Camrose zone.
At the end of the second period the Steelers increased their lead to six to three.
In the third period the Steelers out scored Camrose two to one winning the game by a final score of eight to four and outshot their opponents 46 to 27. Scoring for the Steelers: Zack Laun (2), Lucas Weeks (2), Mitch Cairstairs, Tyler Nickelson and Danny Dekker.
