The Barrhead Senior Gryphon’s boys and girls basketball teams made a rare home appearance on Wednesday, Jan. 6, when they took on the Onoway Mustangs in a pair of regular season games.

On the girls side both the Gryphons and the Mustangs got off to a slow start offensively. By the end of the first quarter the Gryphons led the Mustangs by a score of nine to four.

At halftime the score was 23 to 18 for Barrhead.

By the end of the third quarter the Lady Gryphons increased their lead to 13 points, outscoring the Mustangs 39 to 26.

The Gryphons continued their dominance in the final quarter and ended up winning the game by a score of 55 to 33.

On the men’s side, right from the start it was evident the Gryphons were in for a tough game.

At the end of the first quarter the score was tied 10 to 10. By halftime Onoway pulled ahead slightly leading by a score of 26 to 21.

Unfortunately for the Gryphons the Mustang team was too strong and Onoway extended their lead and ended up winning the game by a score of 54 to 40.
