Hockey is a 60-minute game and the Barrhead Atom Elks needed almost every second of it to defeat their CR Knights opponents 3-1 during a Feb. 11 home game.

After play to a scoreless first period Barrhead got on to the scoreboard first thanks to a goal by Nathan Batty assisted by Rocky Calliou and Grace Kalmbach with just over two minutes left in the second period.

The CR Knights responded less than a minute later tying the game to end the second.

And that is how the game looked like it would end until Batty scored an unassisted goal with just over a minute and a half left in the game. Ten seconds later Calliou would cement the Elks victory with a goal that was assisted by Batty.

The win puts the Elks’ regular season record at 13-7-4-1.
